Construction
Illustrated variant: AL/PVC/PVC/AWA/PVC
- Aluminium conductor
The aluminium conductor forms the current-carrying element of the cable.
- PVC insulation
PVC provides the electrical insulation around the conductor.
- PVC bedding
PVC forms a bedding layer between the insulated core assembly and the armour.
- Aluminium wire armour
Aluminium wires form the mechanical armour around the cable.
- PVC outer sheath
PVC forms the external protective covering around the cable assembly.

- Circular stranded or circular stranded compacted Class 2; black insulation and sheath.
- PVC compound alternatives are Type 5 heat-resisting 85°C with Type 9/ST2 sheath, or Type A/TI1 with ST1/TM1 sheath. This is not a universal operating-temperature rating.
- Source warns that some armour wire diameters are larger than BS 6346; confirm the selected design.
- One or more entries in diameter are withheld pending source confirmation; unaffected values remain available.
