Construction & selection
Three-core copper power-cable family with PVC and XLPE variants. The illustration shows an unarmoured PVC-insulated, PVC-sheathed configuration; insulation and armour must be selected for the installation.

Construction
Illustrated variant: CU/PVC/PVC unarmoured
- Copper conductors
The copper conductors form the current-carrying elements of the insulated cores.
- PVC insulation
PVC provides the electrical insulation around each conductor.
- Core assembly and fillers
The insulated cores are assembled together, with fillers occupying the spaces between them.
- PVC outer sheath
PVC forms the external protective covering around the cable assembly.

- * denotes circular solid Class 1. Other conductors through 16 mm² are circular stranded Class 2; 25 mm² and larger are shaped stranded Class 2.
- PVC compound alternatives are Type 5 heat-resisting 85°C with Type 9/ST2 sheath, or Type A/TI1 with ST1/TM1 sheath. This is not a universal operating-temperature rating.
