Construction & selection
Four-core copper cables with three phase conductors and a smaller neutral conductor. The illustrated option uses PVC insulation and a common PVC sheath without armour; the neutral size must be confirmed for the application.

Construction
Illustrated variant: CU/PVC/PVC with reduced neutral
- Three larger copper phase conductors
Three larger copper conductors form the phase elements of the selected reduced-neutral construction.
- Smaller copper neutral conductor
The smaller copper conductor forms the neutral element of the selected construction.
- PVC insulation
PVC provides the electrical insulation around each conductor.
- Core assembly and fillers
The insulated cores are assembled together, with fillers occupying the spaces between them.
- PVC outer sheath
PVC forms the external protective covering around the cable assembly.

- Phase conductors through 16 mm² circular stranded Class 2; 25 mm² and larger shaped stranded Class 2. Neutral conductors circular stranded Class 2.
- PVC compound alternatives are Type 5 heat-resisting 85°C with Type 9/ST2 sheath, or Type A/TI1 with ST1/TM1 sheath. This is not a universal operating-temperature rating.
- One or more entries in neutral resistance are withheld pending source confirmation; unaffected values remain available.
