Construction
Illustrated variant: CU/XLPE/CTS/PVC/AWA/PVC
- Compacted stranded copper conductor
Copper strands are compacted together to form the current-carrying conductor.
- Semiconducting conductor screen
A semiconducting layer around the conductor forms the inner electrical screen.
- XLPE insulation
Cross-linked polyethylene forms the main electrical insulation around the conductor.
- Semiconducting insulation screen
A semiconducting layer around the XLPE insulation forms the outer insulation screen.
- Copper tape screen
Copper tape forms the metallic screen around the insulated core.
- PVC bedding
PVC forms a bedding layer between the insulated core assembly and the armour.
- Aluminium wire armour
Aluminium wires form the mechanical armour around the cable.
- PVC outer sheath
PVC forms the external protective covering around the cable assembly.
